Position Purpose and Objectives
The purpose of this position is to provide audit services to the Credit Union under supervision of the Audit Manager. The employee performs independent reviews of credit union internal controls; reviews the effectiveness and efficiency of operations; tests the integrity of data; and reviews for compliance with organizational policies and procedures as well as regulatory requirements. The employee will develop recommendations to management on improvements to controls and processes.
Major Duties and Essential Functions
Develop and execute audits plans considering risk profile and regulatory requirements
- Plan and conduct audits of internal controls, financial records, and operational areas
- Conduct special audits/projects as needed
- Perform follow up audits to confirm status / completion of resolution to audit findings
- Document audit testwork, formulate conclusions, and document findings
- Analyze information, identify problems and formulate recommendations/solutions
- Recognize areas of control risk and deviations from operation standards
- Write audit reports to include findings and recommendations to Management
- Evaluate, assess and consult on new or changing services, processes, operations and control processes in development, implementation and / or expansion phases
- Interface with management, supervisors, staff members and members as needed
- Serve as internal audit consultant to other departments
- Operate a computer and on-line system
- Handle confidential information
- Maintain independence and objectivity in performing audits
- Other duties as necessary to achieve the goals of the Credit Union and department

Specific knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position:
- Specific knowledge of Credit Union or financial institution operations
- Specific knowledge of internal auditing standards, procedures and techniques required to perform audits
- Broad knowledge of regulatory requirements
- Ability to comprehend and interpret policies, procedures, laws, regulations and guidelines
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with auditees
- Ability to work independently and as member of team, and be accountable for decisions
- Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills
- Strong computer and typing skills
- Ability to prioritize work and be detail oriented
- Be ethical and use good judgment

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Experience: Minimum three years or more of similar or related experience in financial institutions. CPA or CIA designation preferred.
